Dear President Bush, As a member of your core conservative constituency, I respectfully ask that you take a detour from your hazardous road map trip. Your policy of pressuring Israel to release terrorist killers, enabling them to kill again in the name of “peace,” is a contradiction that can only lead to more blood-letting and exacerbate the conflict in Israel. Such a “peace” is not deserving of any consideration, let alone worthy of using it as a basis for US policy. How can we fight terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq while we encourage the very same Islamic terrorism in Israel by awarding Palestinians a state despite their continued brutal terrorist activities. This is a schizophrenic policy that enables Palestinians to more effectively carry out homicide attacks and then return safely to the protection of their own state. The American people will judge the merits of such cognitive dissonance during our presidential election in 2004. We will turn away from this irrational and morally unjustified path. Please, Mr. President, stop the Road Map. We pray for you to change this disastrous course. Respectfully,
